10 Excellent Independent Labels
In July I published 10 Netlabels To Follow the first guide to alternative labels for the music that saturates our lives. The idea was to expose different labels and bring some attention to the people making music available that challenges our listening habits. So, here is the next list of 10 excellent independent labels.
Perry Ferya Band: Mantra
The mantra of the Perry Ferya Band is easily stated in one word: improvise. This group is an off-shoot of the Skala Collective — a group of artists that support each other in solo and group projects. Mantra is the third release from the group, and definitely takes a bit of a turn from previous releases.
Matthew Tyas: Longues Plages #1
So, I’ve somehow fallen behind a bit with Matthew Tyas’s work. He has another release that came out this month which I haven’t acquired yet. This will soon be rectified, however, as his impressions on Longues Plages is a work that makes me want to have more of his releases in my collection.
Aleksi Eeben: The Four Tales
My discovery of The Four Tales of Aleksi Eeben was an extremely rewarding recording, and was trans-formative of the way I look at the netlabel scene.
